How Engagements Are Structured
I keep pricing simple and scoped, and I quote after I have looked at your data. Roughly, an engagement runs in one of three shapes:
- Discovery (1 to 2 weeks). I look at your data and systems, test whether the idea is feasible, and hand you a written plan with scope, timeline and cost. Fixed price, and you can take the plan to anyone.
- Build (2 to 4 months). A proof of concept first, then production: testing, monitoring, documentation, and training for your team.
- Advisory retainer. A few hours a month to review what your team is building, unblock decisions, and keep the roadmap honest.

Why an Independent Consultant Instead of a Big Firm
Big firms are the right call for some programmes. For most Indian startups and mid-size companies, the trade-offs look like this: you talk to the person who will build it, decisions happen in days instead of steering committees, and the budget goes into working software instead of process. The flip side is that I am one person, so I take on a limited number of projects and I will tell you honestly if yours is better suited to a larger team.

It depends on data readiness, whether you need a prototype or a production system, and how many tools it has to connect to. I start with a fixed-price discovery phase so you get a real number instead of a guess. How long does a typical AI project take?
A focused proof-of-concept can be delivered in 2-4 weeks. Full production deployments typically take 2-4 months, depending on data readiness and system complexity. I always start with quick wins to demonstrate value early.
Do I need a large dataset to implement AI?
Not necessarily. Modern techniques like transfer learning, few-shot learning, and pre-trained models can deliver strong results even with limited data. During our initial assessment, I'll evaluate your data assets and recommend the most practical approach.
Do you only work with Indian companies?
No. I am based in India and most of my clients are here, but I also work with teams in the US and Europe. Everything is remote, documented, and async-friendly, with calls scheduled around your time zone.
How do I know if I should hire a consultant or a full-time data scientist?
If you have one or two well-defined problems, a consultant is usually faster and cheaper. If AI will be central to your product for years, you will eventually want in-house people.
